How Has Society Been Altered To Go Against The African American Community?

Justice has a certain aesthetic appeal. Those who fit a particular criterion of physical appeal, it is pretty evident that they do get a pass for even the most gruesome crimes. When it is applied to social situations, it soon became apparent that people were willing to side with those who fit the social standard of beauty. These were made by the people who were in control and made it their right to alter other people’s perceptions of beauty.

The concept and implementation of enslavement began in 1619 when a ship brought 20 Africans to America for the very exact purpose. They did not have anything else in mind and made sure they were pressured and oppressed into submitting to the will of the superior race, which was the white people. They were not more intelligent or, evidently, more human than the people on the other side. However, their sense of superiority pushed them into thinking they somehow were chosen by God to rule the rest of those in the country.

The alteration of society to have a bias against those who were indifferent had a slow progression from worse to better but still prominent. African Americans were not given the proper education, and it was often that they oppressed their willingness to obtain a degree or partake in educational institutions that had already marginalized them. This was taken advantage of, and schools in lower-class areas were under-funded.

Parents who did want a better life for their children were forced to send their children to white schools where they had to face blatant racisim. The pressure of being marginalized has forced a lot of brilliant children out of schools. Ira Harris, the author of Brown-Skinned Boy, also had to go through a time when desegregation faced a lot of attention. His family was told that they were allowed to attend any school they wanted and that his mother could attend an all-white PTA. Once she did, things took a turn for the worse. They were not only a victim of institutionalized crime but were also forcefully made to lose their land. Harris’s family-owned vegetative land, which they were forced to sell piece by piece to have food on their table. There are multiple other events which are told in this memoir, which are both exciting and saddening to read. Copies are now available on Amazon and up for purchase.

There were multiple incidents of ethnic cleansing where African American communities were forced to leave their homes and move towards an entirely different area. They were forced to leave their homes and make space for the Whites. Many have lost their lives and moved to underdeveloped areas where they do not have access to things that are essential and needed to live a prosperous life.

The increased marginalization, bias, ethnic cleansing, and various other acts have forced minorities to live a life of limited potential for wealth accumulation and development. Those who have somehow made it out of this system have made it big, but those who have not still continue to live a life of struggle and danger. This has been the alteration of society to fit a narrative which supports a specific group and entirely disregards the other.
